Fed: AFL ahead of NRL in proctecting against racial slurs

A leading Aboriginal activist says rugby league is well behind Australian Rules Football
in protecting its game from racism.

Toowoomba-based ATSIC regional councillor STEPHEN HAGAN has called for the resignation
of Queensland Rugby League Chairman JOHN MCDONALD and for league legend ARTHUR BEETSON
to stand down as a national selector.

He says both Mr MCDONALD and Mr BEETSON have failed to support indigenous people in
his fight to rename the ES "NIGGER" BROWN stand at the Toowoomba Sports Ground.
