Brailsford in charge of Brit pro road race team

Seeking to build on its success in Olympic track cycling events, Britain has formed a pro road racing team that it hopes will produce a Tour de France winner within five years.

The team, backed by the BSkyB broadcasting network and called Team Sky, will be managed by highly rated Olympic performance director Dave Brailsford.

The team hopes to feed off the success of Chris Hoy, who won three gold medals on the track at the Beijing Olympics, and other title-winning riders.

The team will start competing in 2010 with the aim of eventually earning a place in the Tour de France field.
