Fed: Labor remains under pressure

CANBERRA, Feb 23 AAP - Labor remains under pressure over its tax policy, with the government
likely to step up its scare campaign following Opposition leader Kim Beazley's refusal
to rule out income tax hikes.

Labor has so far refused to say how it would fund a promised rollback of the GST while
maintaining funding to the states, and was yesterday forced to commit to keeping the 30
per cent health insurance rebate.

Under pressure from Prime Minister John Howard, Mr Beazley said Labor would not scrap
the rebate for private health insurance, despite denouncing it …
